Some of the Greatest Sneaker Designers of All time

Top and New Sneaker Fashion Designers

Sneakers go back as early as the 18th century but the kind that do not have right or left foot. In 1892, an American company came up with the first comfortable all rubber shoes that came to be known as “Keds”. Almost two decades later, these sneakers became available to consumers. Have you wondered why they are called such? It’s because these shoes are so quiet that anyone wearing them can sneak in and out of a place without really being heard.

Over the years, others followed. In the 1920s, we were introduced to Chuck Taylor All-Stars and in 1924, German Adi Dassler invented a pair of sneakers he named after himself, “Adidas”. It became one of the most popular shoe brands in sports.

Today, these sneakers are still available in the market but other budding designers and known fashion designers alike have started designing sneakers. These comfortable shoes have become so popular that they are not just novelty products anymore. Today, men are buying designer sneakers over dress shoes more than ever.

Here are some of the new and top sneaker fashion designers to watch out for:

  1. Adidas

This brand should not be left out in the list of top sneaker designers or brand. As mentioned earlier, Adidas was the brainchild of Adi Dassler where his sneakers were worn in the 1936 Olympics. Other shoe models from Adidas also include, Adidas Samba, Adidas Trimm Trab, Adidas Stan Smith and Adidas Superstar.  Introduced in the 1950s, this is considered to be the biggest selling Adidas of all time.  The Adidas Trimm Tab, on the other hand, became popular in the 1970s and known for its distinct and solid chunked-up rubber polyurethane soles. The all leather Adidas Stan Smith was introduced a decade before the Trimm Tab and is recognizable with its three rows of perforations where the usual stripes of Adidas used to be while the Adidas Superstar which started to be sold in 1969 still remains popular as it was decades ago. Its design is one of the coolest and perhaps the most recognizable low top, shell-toe design.

  1. Glidekicks

Aside from the classic high and low top sneakers by well-known designers, LED sneakers are again trending in terms of footwear. But today, the Co-founder behind Glidekicks, Michael Tolmach made sure there are no safety issues unlike before. Not only did they come up with LED sneakers for kids but for men and women, toddlers and teenagers.  These LED shoes are charged using USB and they come in different colors and design and style.

  1. Under Armour

Under Armour overtook Adidas in terms of being the number one sportswear in the market. They also have a sneaker deal with Steph Curry with Dave Dombrow on the helm of the Curry line.  He was the Senior Vice President of Design for Under Armour until he left the company. He is said to be joining Nike, although this might not take place right away. The line of Curry includes classic black and white sneakers as well as high tops in teal, pink and purple.
